What to do if you remembered a past life?

8 July 2021

Suddenly, you got a vision. Or simply you feel like you know.

Maybe you caught just a sense of something, no details. Or maybe the opposite - you saw a whole movie unfold in your mind...

And then you had a thought - maybe this is my past life!

You don't know for sure, of course.

You are not even clear enough if you believe in such things.

And you feel like you don't know what to do.

Brush it aside or rush to write it down? Or maybe stand still, don't breathe, so you won't forget what you just felt?

And then questions come up...

“Was what I saw and felt - really my past life? How am I to live with knowing that this exists and that was me? Am I to live differently now? And also... does that mean that we don't really die?...”

I know these feelings and thoughts so well.

Since the first time I started to consciously remember my past lives, I faced my questions - swirling in my brain and my emotions - many times.

Doubting myself at first, especially because past life memories are not “concrete”, I have grown to understand - that it is important to treat your memories intentionally and with a certain amount of care. Even if we are not sure if this is real, such memories are a gift from life helping you on your path.

Today I wish to offer you a roadmap on how to integrate remembering a past life and how to use such memories for healing and growth in your current life now.

Steps I'm offering below are not the only way of dealing with memories, for sure. And they are not rules, more like invitations for you to try.

And if you are wondering how to understand a certain past life memory you have - read through the roadmap below and see which step speaks to you most. Maybe that is the missing piece for the puzzle, something that could be helpful for you to explore.
1
If a memory has just come to you...
Breathe and stay calm.

TRUST YOURSELF.

Remembering a past life is natural for human beings.

That's how our soul helps us learn and make better choices in life. Memories come to help us. Same as with forgotten childhood memories, past life memories can suddenly come back to the surface of your mind. This is normal.

So allow yourself to remember. Do not suppress the memory. Remembering will help heal and grow.

And if you need, you can always change your pace or take a pause.
2
Breathe and let it sink in...
Let yourself feel your resonance with the memory...

Notice how it feels in your body.

Let yourself just be with what you saw / felt / know - for the moment.

I have found that often times simply remembering a past life is healing. When we let ourselves remember and integrate what we remember, it acts as medicine and restores parts of our soul.
3
See if there is more to the story
Stay open for more details or parts of the story coming up to the surface...

Ask yourself: what was the full story? And what happened afterwards? What lead to that story?

See if you recognize in the memory some people you know in this lifetime?

Maybe in that memory you see those who feel like dear family members, but you don't know them here in your present life?

Spend some time "daydreaming" allowing yourself to remember more. Try not to analyse too much. Connect emotionally first.

Maybe try remembering more right before going to sleep, because our subconscious mind is more easily available when we relax.

Also, writing down what you already remembered is also very useful - more details may come or you may understand what you saw or felt more deeply.
4
At some point your intellect probably will start to doubt the whole thing - and that is normal
You may start doubting if you even believe in past lives. Or if it is possible to clearly remember something.

You may start doubting your whole perspective on life (even if you are usually quite spiritual). You may suddenly wonder if anything beyond the visible is real at all and maybe you are "crazy" for contemplating an idea of past lives.

You may also feel hesitancy to trust what you feel: "I can't prove that it truly happened, so it's not reasonable to even think about it and let alone actually consider this true".

Whatever type of doubt kicks in, try to stay calm. Keep your attention on your memories and at the same time allow yourself a bit of healthy detachment too.

If it helps you, for now treat your past life memory as a metaphor or an interesting dream - as long as you still pay attention to the message in your memory.

And later, once your doubts calm down over time, you will be able to trust yourself more and admit that you do know deep down that it was a past life you remembered.
5
If you feel some physical discomfort when working with your past life memory - don't be afraid
Maybe you start to feel some tension in your muscles, or some tingling, or a bit of pain without explanation... If this is not a clear self-protective "please stop" from your body, then it's normal too. It is possible that there is a connection between the past life you remembered and a part of your physical body.

When you connect to your memory and focus your attention on it, parts of your body may start to resonate attracting your attention. A type of discomfort may also give hints about some aspects of your story, or this may be a sign that you are truly connecting to the root cause of something important.

If you need, you can always give yourself permission to take a pause, do some self-care, drink water, rest and come back to the memory later.... Trust the wisdom and the natural pace of your body here.
6
Compare that past life memory with your current life
After you remembered as much as you could about your past life memory, now look at your current life....

See if your past life reminds you of something going on in your life here.

Does anything look familiar? Or makes you feel similar emotions, as in your remembered life?

Keep breathing when you do this, give yourself some time to explore this step... and trust your own perceptions and intuition.
7
Are there any strong emotions from that past life you would like to express now?
Now let's focus on that past life again...

Are there any emotions or energy there - that you may wish to express physically?

Punch a pillow, scream or simply cry? Move, dance or walk it out?

Maybe you would like to physically play out the story you remembered, like in a theater? Trust your gut on this.

(I once had an experience when a past life memory was "stuck" being too "patchy”. I couldn't see the whole picture and understand the "story line". Then I got an idea to move in my body as if I were in the part of the story I was actually clear about. After I did some movements a few times, I got more in touch with the emotions I felt - and the energy started moving. I then felt that the story started to open up, "unpack" and show me the fuller view of what happened between me and other souls in that memory)

If there are no emotions you feel you want to explore or express, that's ok too. Not everything that we remember is about problems and emotions, some memories serve a different purpose.
8
Could you imagine other possible ways how that past life could have gone?
Occasionally, it may also be helpful to explore the different choices and possibilities that were playing out in your past life.

Ask yourself - how that story could have gone differently? What if you could have made some different choices? What if other souls made other choices that affected you? Could there have been a more positive soul scenario for you and souls you were connected with?

Also, it is normal if you feel that you are not sure which of the scenarios have actually happened and which ones were only potential (in case you could have made a different choice).

I have found that sometimes we remember a life together with all the potential ways it could have gone. Like a list of multiple scenarios of the same story.

I don't feel I fully understand what that means in terms of which stories were actually lived... But I have grown to understand that life is multidimensional and that our past life memories are there to help us grow as a soul. Knowing alternative storylines and other possible outcomes is really helpful for that growth.
9
Is there something you would like to do for yourself in that past lifetime?
Is there something your soul would like you to give or allow yourself there in your past life?

Trust your imagination. And if something comes up, offer that to yourself in your past memory. And see if it feels good or if something else happens, maybe another scenario unfolds in that lifetime...

This may sound puzzling due to the common idea that we can't change the past. But the truth is that when we shift something in ourselves in relation to a past life, we heal ourselves here in the now. We, as souls, exist across dimensions and our soul in the past is directly connected to our soul in the present time.
10
How could you apply the lessons from the past life - to your life now?
Now let's get back to your current life again.

After all that you learned about your soul and your previous adventures in another lifetime... could you apply that to your life now?

Maybe you could make a different, better choice in how you live here?

Maybe you would like to shift something small? Or maybe you now feel that you wish to go bigger and braver with your life?

Maybe you simply now feel more free to be you in whatever you do?

Try to see how your past life memory could help you change here and now. What could you do differently now?
11
Start doing something differently in your life here
Try making baby steps to reflect your new approach in life.

Do something practical to help yourself apply and integrate the intangible memories into the "real life". New practical actions rewire your psyche and heal the old pattern of energy.
12
After a few weeks, look back and notice if you are making new choices in life...
Look back and see if you are living your new understanding of yourself? Are you doing things differently? Even if just in terms of how you feel inside and the general vibe? Does your life feel different?

Have you tried new things? Have you started to feel lighter? Or more free, maybe?

If you have not tried the baby steps you thought about in the step 11 yet - simply try them today.
13
As you integrate your past life memory into your current life, enjoy this miracle
The miracle of remembering a past life. The miracle of getting insight into who you are on a deeper level.

There is so much love and purpose in remembering where we have been before. We also remember what is helpful to our soul right now. It's quite magical.

When we remember a past life, it's one more opportunity to grow and express our True Self more.

Give yourself a moment to contemplate this, let the gratitude touch your heart.
When you remember a past life it invites you to restore a part of you, heal or complete some past experiences or, the opposite, resume what you soul loves and has been doing over many lifetimes.

You also get deeper insight into who you are and what are root cause and possible higher meanings of who your life has been so far.

But also, as you discover your past lives, it becomes a spiritual experience - meaning you remember yourself as a spirit, not just a material body.

As you remember more past lives, you bit by bit allow yourself to feel expanded. Bigger than just this one personality and body in this present life. More free and multidimensional.

As you remember what your soul chose to experience before this lifetime, you connect to your core - to the light, the love, the Spark that you are.

As you remember, also your fears may start to lose much of its power. Over time we discover that a part of us never completely disappears and that we simply change forms over time (while our inner light stays as powerful as always).

All of these spiritual insights are so valuable for our human journey and are wonderful side effects from remembering and exploring our past soul experiences. I highly recommend it :-)
